OurHealthMate (OHM) is a digital healthcare platform connecting millions of patients with trusted clinicians across India. Seeking to expand into predictive health, OHM partnered with Elemental Concept and Aladdin to develop a data-driven solution that could assess disease risk and promote early intervention.
The challenge:
With access to vast medical records via the Indian Medical Council database, OHM needed a scalable and accurate system to extract, process, and interpret health data—turning raw information into actionable insights for both patients and providers.
Our approach:
We built a custom Optical Character Recognition (OCR) engine to process more than 100,000 raw medical records, extracting structured data from unstandardised formats. Using this dataset, multiple machine learning models were trained with XGBoost and SKLearn, and their outputs combined to deliver a robust risk assessment algorithm capable of detecting early indicators of diabetes and kidney disease.
Results:
The system achieved over 85% accuracy and 80% specificity, providing reliable risk predictions and personalised health recommendations. This AI-powered approach transformed OHM’s platform into a proactive health management system, supporting better outcomes for millions of users across India.
